Areas of Focus
CIE is involved in Catholic schools in a variety of ways. Our primary focus is to keep Catholic schools places of quality teaching and learning based on the Catholic philosophy of excellence and care. Schools are assisted to develop their Catholic identity through annual evaluations with the instrument Signs of God’s Presence. Religious Education policy, materials and resources are developed to assist and challenge teachers, learners and parents. Religious educators are assisted through training to be well-informed and motivated. CIE works closely to delver a BED and ACE qualification in Religious Education through St Augustine’s College.
Schools are encouraged to put high levels of care in place to ensure that learners’ welfare is of primary importance and that child-protection measures are in place.
The Policy unit monitors policy affecting schools and advocates on behalf of the schools with various role players. Links with local Catholic schools are promoted and CIE serves as the secretariat for CaSPA, the owners association.
Leadership and governance are essential aspects of effective schools. CIE currently offers a three year programme for leadership development: Building Sustainable School Leadership. The programme includes seminar, peer support and personal coaching from CIE regional managers.
