Health and well being

Learners in South African schools, particularly rural and township schools, face serious social challenges. To mitigate against these the CIE promotes the Caring School Model.

Through HIV/AIDS and Gender education teachers are trained to give life skills lessons. Schools are also assisted to develop protocols and systems which support learner care and nurturing. CIE also has an access programme which keeps children in school, providing money for school fees, uniforms, school trips and  food where necessary.
