Notre Dame St Peter's School, Kroonstad: Head of School

The members of the Notre Dame Foundation and the Board of Governors invite interested and appropriately qualified persons to apply for the position of Head of School at Notre Dame St Peter’s School in Kroonstad.

Notre Dame St Peter’s School in Kroonstad, is a subsidised co-educational IEB school, offering Grade R – Grade 12 classes, and in addition, four classes for learners with Special Needs. This position has become available following the resignation of the present incumbent after twelve years’ of outstanding service to the school. The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur have had an educational and service mission in the Kroonstad Diocese since 1907, offering quality and Christian values-based Education for Life, in the Catholic tradition, as well as other services in the local community.  

Essential Requirements for Applicants:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience at SMT level.
  • Appropriate academic and professional qualifications, and SACE Registration.
  • An understanding of and commitment to Catholic Christian values and practices.
  • Evidence of  leadership, interpersonal and organisational skills.

Key Performance Requirements:

  • Commitment to nurturing, developing and promoting the School’s ethos and to uphold the educational mission of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, which includes  their international and intercultural educational mission to promote Education for Life.
  • An understanding of and a creative approach to current developments and needs in Independent School Education          
  • A team style of working with the SMT.
  • Ability to motivate key staff members in the ongoing design of a relevant and innovative curriculum that meets the needs of CAPS’ requirements as well as the Hallmarks of Notre Dame Schools around the world.
  • Regular critical evaluation of all academic and extra-mural activities, including the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Oversight of school’s finances, management of the budget, and the achievement of financial targets.
  • Management of all administrative and support staff.
  • Good communication skills with all members of the school community: staff, parents, learners and Board members,  in order to build up a family spirit in the whole educating community.

The Head of School will report as required to the Notre Dame Foundation, the Board of Governors and the Free State Education Department.

  • A Curriculum Vitae not longer than four A4 pages.
  • Names and contact details of three referees.
  • Certified copies of SACE Registration, qualifications, ID document and Driver’s License.
  • A valid Police Clearance Certificate.
