Today, and on various days during the month of October and November, many Catholic Schools around South Africa will be taking part in the Leave Your Print Campaign. This is a National Catholic Board of Education (NCBE) initiative aimed at bringing the Catholic Schools network together to raise funds to assist under resourced schools within the network.
Sadly, many children in South Africa are subjected to using poor sanitation facilities such as pit toilets, run down, broken toilets and lack of adequate running water to run these facilities. The money raised during this campaign will go towards the building or maintenance of such ablution facilities.
Learners taking part in this campaign will go to school in sandals due to Covid 19 protocols, though in previous years they would go to school barefoot. This is in solidarity with their peers for whom going to school barefoot is unfortunately their everyday reality.
We thank all learners, parents and participating schools for their kind generosity and for Leaving Their Print in impacting and making a difference in under resourced schools for their peers now and into the future.
