Invitation: Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) Closing Ceremony

Invitation: Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) Closing Ceremony

For more than fifteen years, CIE Thabiso Skills Institute has been asking a simple question:

How do we help young people become economically active in communities where formal jobs are increasingly scarce?

The CIE, together with its network of 29 skills centres in 7 provinces that offer short occupational skills training to about 5000 youths from previously disadvantaged communities, has been registered to offer the International Labour Organisation entrepreneurship modules known as Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) to beneficiaries who want to learn how to start and grow their own businesses. To deliver these training courses effectively, facilitators from various skills centres are invited to participate in a 10-day intensive train-the-trainer seminar in Johannesburg.

We are pleased to invite you to the award and end-of-training ceremony of the Train the Trainers – Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) entrepreneurship programme. The event is an opportunity to celebrate participants' achievements, acknowledge the contributions of our partners and stakeholders, and recognise CIE's efforts to strengthen entrepreneurship development and small business support.

The International Labour Organisation developed the SIYB entrepreneurship programme to contribute to decent work and reduce unemployment worldwide, especially in developing countries. Enterprise and business development agencies, organisations, and independent training consultants use the SIYB modules to provide training services to potential and existing entrepreneurs. The SIYB programme offers modules for developing feasible business ideas (GYB module), starting a business (SYB module), improving existing businesses (IYB module), and expanding a business (EYB module). By equipping facilitators with the knowledge, skills, and practical tools to deliver training across all four SIYB modules, we are building our network's capacity to support young people sustainably throughout their entrepreneurial journeys.
