Holy Childhood School: Principal

The Holy Childhood School aims to provide its students with a holistic education based on Christian morals and principals within the Catholic ethos and reflecting our motto of sincerity. This will be achieved through a quality education which develops the child’s natural talents, independence, responsibility and respect and fosters an acceptance of cultural diversity.

Holy Childhood School is a well-established Independent, Catholic, co-ed, school situated in Eshowe, in the heart of Zululand. Holy Childhood School caters for children from Grade 000 to Grade 7, as well as a small centre for the remediation of learners in Grade 1 - 3.

An exciting opportunity has opened to lead this special little school.

Principal - Start Date: 01 October 2023 or 01 January 2024

Applicants must:

  • Have a relevant degree and teaching qualification

  • Have at least 10 years of teaching experience and a minimum of 4 years in a management level post

  • Be registered with SACE

  • Possess a valid South African Driver’s Licence

  • Be vaccinated against Covid-19

  • Be self-motivated with a passion for education and a drive to succeed

  • Have a proven track record of leadership and managerial skills

  • Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues, parents and the wider Eshowe community

  • Have high emotional intelligence

  • Have a strong knowledge of current educational practices and trends

  • Preferably be a communicant member of the Catholic Church and uphold and contribute to the strong Christian ethos and values of the School.

Responsibilities will include (but are not restricted to):

  • Strategic Leadership: In collaboration with the Governing Body and the School Management Team, you will be tasked with shaping a vision and conveying this vision of the school to all stakeholders. You will identify strategies that will ensure the sustainable growth of the school.

  • Organizational Leadership: Building inclusive practices, financial analysis, legislative compliance. HR and Professional Development initiatives for staff, ensure accountability through the implementation of an effective IQMS programme within the school. The upholding of the schools Disciplinary policy for both staff and learners.

  • Instructional Leadership: Implementation of creative pedagogical strategies, inclusive. Ensuring academic excellence in all phases of the school. Formative and summative assessment strategies.

  • Religious Leadership: Ensure the commitment of the school to the Catholic education of Catholic pupils. Foster and develop a good relationship with the resident Catholic priest and church.

  • Cultural Leadership: Maintain a climate based on strong Christian values and reflect this in the surrounding communities.
